The Southern Rhône: New releases

The Southern Rhône in 2021 was a smaller-than-usual vintage, producing some charming and elegant wines with more moderate alcohol and brighter acidity than the previous few vintages. As ever, there are some world class wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueryas. But don’t overlook the fantastic value in the less-famous regions of Lirac, Ventoux and a few hidden gems from Côtes du Rhône.

2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Piedlong, Frédéric et Daniel Brunier Dry | Red | Still | 15%

Fresh red berries with floral notes on the nose. Same again on the palate with some more bramble, orange peel and exotic spice flavours. Grippy tannins at this young stage but a great core of silky red fruit and great freshness.
