The top wine from Casa Lapostolle, this Clos Apalta is full of concentrated blackberry, blueberry fruit, with expressive and layered tobacco and floral notes. It's rich, complex and full bodied, with bags of potential to age, and at this early stage has lots of densely packed, ripe tannins. Focussed, polished and seriously impressive.

Nicolas Catena is the celebrated pioneer of winemaking in Argentina, and this celebrated flagship wine has all the hallmarks of a great Argentinian red. This year it is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 21% Malbec. It's the first time ever that Franc is greater than Malbec, to compensate the warm and dry conditions. With pure blue and black fruit, layers of spice, lifted floral notes and subtle earthy notes, it's bright and aromatic, showing a deft balance of cool, chalky influence and vibrant fruit.

2021 was an excellent vintage for white wines in Bordeaux, known for their electric acidity, mineral tones and zesty fruit character. As a result, although we always expect great things for the white wine of Cheval Blanc, in 2021 they have hit new heights. The wine has a brilliant, crystalline feel on the palate, and generous, rich citrus and white peach fruit builds on the palate.

One of the iconic wines of the Rhône Valley. In 2021 Hommage à Jacques Perrin has a lifted red fruit profile, in addition to the more typical brambley, black plum fruit flavours. There's a reticence and delicacy at this early stage, also reflecting this more restrained vintage. There's plenty of freshness and earthy tones towards the finish, and approachable, rounded tannins.

Cheval des Andes is an exceptional blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from Las Compuertas and Paraje Altamira in Mendoza. There's lots of violet, blackberry and plum here, with lifted minty, floral limestone character. There's a boldness to the fruit in this warmer year and a round feel to the tannins, before leaving a fresh, energetic finish.

An iconic, historic wine from South Africa, the 2020 Vin de Constance is beautiful, with an unctuous, nectar-like texture, ripe apricot, and honey flavours.

This is a cooler expression of this famous Hermitage, with incredible length and finesse. Fresh and bright with a combination of black berry fruit and some red plum and raspberry. There's plenty of earthy spice, with light peppery notes, cured meats, and wild herbs.

One of the finest wines from Chile, Viñedo Chadwick always has more refreshing red-fruit focus compared to its stablemate Seña. There's an almost Bordelais structure here, with grippy tannins and refreshing acidity, subtle earthy and cedar notes and a juicy, brambley finish.
