2012 Caro, Barons de Rothschild/Catena, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 15%

"Incredible aromas of spice, cedar, walnut and dark berry. Floral too. Spectacular nose. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a racy and refined finish. Fresh and succulent. Made from old vines of mablec in Compuertas and cabernet sauvignon from Altamira. Such finesse. Half the normal production. The best wine ever from the Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena winery." 98 points, James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

2019 Don Manuel Tannat, Tacama, Peru Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

A beautiful expression of Tannat, with rich, concentrated black fruit and a firm structure. The tannins are bold but balanced by fresh acidity and masses of complex flavours of vanilla, coffee, chocolate and fig.

2017 Ar Guentota Malbec, Belasco de Baquedano, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

This is an impressive malbec from Belasco de Boquedano. On the nose notes of violets, pure berry fruit, and a hint of crushed herbs. There’s lovely freshness on the palate, here, with a lick of oak spice, and silky, enveloping tannins. Beautifully balanced, and absolutely delicious.

2016 Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos, Château Pajzos 50cl Bottle Sweet | White | Still | 10%

This, from the impressive 2016 vintage, is gorgeous. It is a blend of Furmint and Hárslevelű , the two greatest grape varieties of Tokaji. There’s tropical fruit, apricots, honeysuckle, and so much spice. And the sweetness is wonderfully balanced with bright acidity, and a minerality that comes from the volcanic soils of the Tokaji region.

2019 Seña, Chadwick, Aconcagua Valley, Chile Dry | Red | Still | 15%

The 2019 Seña is a vibrant, ripe, yet incredibly refined red from this iconic estate. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 15% Carmenère, and 4% Petit Verdot, it shows refinement of tannins, poise, and a long and stony finish. There’s tons of energy here, and a slightly smoky finish. This is quintessentially Chilean, but with real poise.

2018 AR Guentota Malbec, Belasco de Baquedano, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

A truly beautiful Malbec made from vines that are over 100 years old. The elevation of their vineyard gives incredible almost-minty, floral freshness to the wine, alongside dense blackberry, damson and blueberry fruit. There is subtle spiciness from a year in French oak and a wilder savoury, herbal character too.

2012 Nicasia Vineyard Malbec, Catena, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 14%

“The 2012 Malbec Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard feels fresher and more harmonious than the 2011, when in reality the vintage character is the opposite. It is sourced from the vineyard that names the wine and that is located in Altamira. The Malbec grapes fermented in open barrels and cement vats with 15% whole-cluster Cabernet Franc. There is one extra level of precision and harmony here. It has an elegant nose and the palate almost reflects the tension in the skin of the grapes with its a velvety texture and great acidity. This is really tasty and long, it could be the best Nicasia ever produced. 8,000 bottles produced.”

2019 Petite Arvine Tradition, Domaine des Muses, Valais White | Still | 13.5%

2013 Caro, Barons de Rothschild/Catena, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

Very primary at the moment on the nose, with dark fruits, violet notes, and a sprinkling of well-integrated sweet fruit. In the mouth the power builds, but the thread of freshness ensures a weightless quality. With excellent acidity, fine-grained tannins, and intensity of flavour, the 2013 Caro has all the characteristics required for a long life ahead.

2009 Chateau Musar Rouge, Serge Hochar, Bekaa Valley Dry | Red | Still | 14%

The 2009 Musar is a blend of approximately one third each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan. A spicy, complex nose with wild berries and dark chocolate leads onto a palate with lovely weight and texture. The finish is long and perfumed, with a hint of smokiness. Musar release their wines when they consider them ready, and this is undoubtedly delicious. But you needn’t be in a rush: this will certainly last well.

Ready: 2016 - 2030
2009 Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino, Mendoza Dry | Red | Still | 14%

“The 2009 Malbec Argentino is a blend of the vineyards of Adrianna and Nicasia and is 20% whole cluster and 80% whole berry fruit. The former is co-fermented with Viognier and the latter co-fermented with Cabernet Franc. It is aged in French oak barrels, of which 60% are new. It has a more opulent bouquet than the individual blends, with dark cherries, iodine, minerals and blueberry that are all beautifully defined. The palate has a dense, weighty entry with layers of ripe blackberry and boysenberry fruit laced with crushed stone and a touch of graphite. The finish is supremely well-defined and focused, with immense length on the finish.” 95 points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

This is one of the best Malbecs we’ve come across, and the 2012 delivers in spades. Now at 6 and a half years old, it’s absolutely delicious, with notes of prune and ripe plum, a hint of spice, and fine acidity on the finish. At this price, it’s simply remarkable.

2008 Don Melchor, Concha y Toro, Puente Alto Vineyard, Maipo Valley Dry | Red | Still | 14.8%

In 1986,Viña Concha y Toro decided to produce a premium wine that would to help position Chile as a producer of high-quality wines. The objective was not only to produce the finest red wine possible from Chile, but also to create a wine that reflected the unique terroir of the Alto Maipo Valley. Since its inaugural vintage, it has earned a noteworthy reputation as one of the world’s finest Cabernet Sauvignons. The grapes are carefully selected from different old vine blocks of the highly regarded Puente Alto vineyard, located in the foothills of the majestic Andes mountain range. “Don Melchor is a blend of the expressions of each of its blocks… by joining them together we achieve a better, more complete, more complex wine that reflects the personality of the Puente Alto vineyard”, explains winemaker Enrique Tirado. Don Melchor is one of the great examples of top quality Cabernet Sauvignon from this prized corner of the New World.

The 2008 Don Melchor is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc that is aged for 15 months in French oak. Crisp, precise and attractive aromas of cassis, black cherry and dark plum are supported by rich mocha and toasty oak. There are fine, grippy tannins enswathed in juicy blackberry fruit, accompanied by a subtle hint of iodine and black olive, leading to a freshly spiced finish. This is a lovely, focused wine of great weight and depth that will be drinking well into 2020 and beyond.

Chateau Musar is fast becoming a household name, growing in reputation as the run of successive successful vintages continues. Serge Hochar, eldest son of founder Gaston Hochar, is a master of his craft and now something of a living legend. Having insistently taken over wine production from his father in 1959, Serge went on to be awarded the first 'Decanter Man of the Year' in 1984 for his reincarnation of what is rightly one of the world's most prized terroirs. Impressively, throughout the civil war in Lebanon the grape trucks never stopped in their tracks, in spite of bombs flying overhead. Only in 1984 and 1976 did the harvested grapes meet their demise. You'll have a job resisting the immediate charms, but these wines can age incredibly well, and we've fought hard to acquire a small parcel of the incredible 2005 vintage.

2021 Malbec Terroir, Altos Las Hormigas, Luján de Cuyo Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

A brilliant contemporary Malbec from the pioneering and thoughtful Altos Las Hormigas. The winery was established in 1995 by two Italians, and in 2012 they worked with Pedro Parra to identify top sites for Malbec in the Mendoza area, and eschewed new oak for larger, older casks and concrete tanks for maturation. This, from the Terroir series, is focused on expressing the purity and elegance of a single site in Luján de Cuyo, the traditional place for Mendoza wine production. They harvest by hand, and use gravity to process the grapes into small concrete tanks where they are fermented with wild yeasts, and then spend 18 months before resting in bottle for six further months. It's a single parcel Malbec and has grippy, rounded tannins, minty, limestone freshness and layers of bramble fruit and crunchy red cherry.

"The 2011 Malbec Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard is Malbec from the eponymous vineyard in Gualtallary close to 1,500 meters altitude fermented together with some Viognier exclusively from the plots where the soil is rich in calcium carbonate. The vineyard is planted at high density, 12,000 plants per hectare. If all the vintages of Adrianna are to dream about, this could be the most balanced, harmonious, elegant and mineral of them all. The sense of place here is tremendous, it transfers you to the Gualtallary vineyards at the foot of the Andes with its stony, chalky soils. There is a sense of harmony and subtlety like you rarely see. The wine dances on the tongue and seems light on its feet, yet has a hidden power and concentration that is noticeable on the finish. The flavors stay forever on the finish and the lips are salty. Otherworldy. Words do not do justice to this beauty. It goes far beyond the variety, I didn't think about Malbec, I thought about the place and forgot about the grapes. The flavors linger in your mouth forever. I'd love to encounter this wine again in ten years time." 98 Points, Luis Guttierez, The Wine Advocate

2023 Bacchus Fumé, Flint Vineyard, Norfolk Dry | White | Still | 11%

A rounded style of Bacchus displaying ripe, fleshy pear and apple notes on the nose. The palate is soft, slightly creamy and textured but also fresh and crisp. The finish is long and laced with pink grapefruit. Fermentation and ageing in 3rd-fill oak barrels lends texture and encourages aromatic development rather than oak flavour, pushing Bacchus towards the style of its parent variety, Riesling, and the 2023 Fumé demonstrates this brilliantly.
