The Vigna Loreto is a single vineyard Brunello di Montalcino from a South Eastern facing vineyard around 350 metres above sea level. This is higher toned than the regular Brunello blend, more defined by energy. It has an enticing nose of mint, sage and blackberry. The palate is soothingly round, where ripe wild berry fruits are guided by a cool, liquid-stone minerality and brisk acidity. It finishes long, with fine tannins, tart berry concentration, and a slight citrus twang. A truly distinctive single-vineyard expression.

Le Potazzine has made one of the wines of the vintage, which is no surprise as the estate is so ruthlessly consistent. Initially a little shy, precise aromas of dried rose petals and dark cherry give way to cedar, sage and some spice. The palate is wonderfully textured with a core of bright red fruit. This is so well balanced with lots of brightness and energy leading into a long finish with gorgeous fine grained tannins. This 2021 should enter its drinking window slightly earlier than the other two legendary vintages. An intriguing bouquet of dried flowers, ripe strawberry, savory grilled herbs, lifted by some exoctic spice. The palate is beautifully polished with a silky texture. A core of ripe fruit is underpinned with acidty and minerality that gives an almost weightless feel. This has all the hallmarks and composure and elegance that people love about the Gianni Brunelli.
