2025 Château Pichon-Longueville (Baron), Pauillac Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

This is surely the absolute essence of Cabernet from Pauillac. Gravelly, powerful, assertive yet with no sense of excess. Notes of violets, cocoa and cedar lift from ripe, fleshy bramble fruit that coats the palate. There is so much intensity yet matched with so much brightness. A lot of structure here which is finely polished and filled with dark berry fruit. A remarkable Pichon Baron this year.

2025 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac Dry | Red | Still

There is a lot to love about this wine. It opens with restraint showing notes of black tea, iris root and violets. The huge intensity is evident from the moment it touches the palate. Tight knit tannin which feels velvety and seamless, refined and balanced. Absolute elegance here there is so much charm but a latent power. Flesh and power combined. Remarkable elegance behind gravelly intensity.

2025 Château Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

The 2025 Pontet Canet offers quite explosive aromatics with notes of blue fruits, black tea, and lavender. Rounded almost creamy merlot character of plum and red cherry coat the mid-palate with a bright line of acidity as a counterbalance. Showing a sinewy and supple tannic architecture, this finishes with a subtle earthy note of iris root and liquorice.

Château Rauzan-Ségla

2025 Château Rauzan-Ségla, Margaux Dry | Red | Still | 13.5%

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% Cabernet Franc. This wine demonstrates the strength of this vintage, with the ripe, caressing fruit of this warmer summer yet with the freshness and energy from the cooler nights and well-timed rain. Aromatically intriguing with notes of bay leaf, lavender, cherry blossom, cocoa, sandalwood, iris root - layers of complexity. The wine really builds on the palate with drama and energy. Fluid and focused there is a lovely tapenade edge on the finish.

A wonderfully vibrant white this year with notes of orange peel, ginger, and acacia. Lovely energy here, with concentrated stone fruit with hints of green mango and a saline core. Tense and vibrant at this stage, it is a wine with well defined aromatics and a delicious, savoury finish.

The level of new oak has been toned down this year and it means the terroir speaks even more clearly. There is a new level of refinement here. Crushed rocks, peony and dark cherry fruit, there is still the telltale charm and glossy exterior to this SHL but with just a little more detail and elegance. Serious and a long-term prospect.
