Pinot Grigio
Whilst Pinot Grigio may have become known for inoffensive whites from Veneto, the same variety when called Pinot Gris in Alsace, can be a wonderfully aromatic, full-bodied, ageworthy grape variety - a fantastic food wine. Nor is Italian Pinot Grigio restricted to its industrial style, with wines from the mountains of Alto Adige reflecting more their Alsatian cousins than Venetian brothers. In the New World, the name used on the label will often give a strong indication of the style of the wine.
