Californian Wine
The Golden State has been at the fore of many movements over its history, whether the film industry, hippy counterculture, or the internet revolution. The same is true of its wines, which were put on the map by beating established French names in a blind tasting in 1976. Since then fashions have changed, moving through the bold fruit bombs of the ‘90s to the New California movement of today, as some producers seek fresh, balanced wines, often using cooler areas and Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
