Cognac
Undoubtedly the most renowned of French Brandies, Cognac provides a smoother, more seductive spirit than its southern cousin Armagnac. Made from double-distilling wine usually produced from the Ugni Blanc grape, Cognac can come from six different crus, or areas in the west of France. Two are confusingly labelled Grand Champagne and Petit Champagne, but there are no bubbles in sight. With a range of styles (and prices) to choose from, Cognac’s prestige throughout the world continues to grow.
