Responsible in no small part for introducing a whole generation to wine during the 1980s, Australia has found it hard to shake its image of big, oaky Chardonnay and very ripe reds. They are even rethinking Australian Chardonnay as taut, mineral and focussed. The ‘80s are well behind Australia.
