2024 Syrah, Rall Wines, Swartland Red | Still

A wine that seems to capture all the beautiful flavours of whole bunches of raw Syrah. Dripping with bramble fruit, the nose shows notes of pepper, violets and tapenade. This is a beautifully understated yet so complete style of Syrah that will give the most classical wines of the Northern Rhône a run for their money.

Ready: 2025 - 2038
2023 Testamatta, Bibi Graetz, Tuscany Red | Still | 14%

This is a captivating, pure and jubilant expression of Sangiovese from Bibi’s cooler north-facing vineyards. The wine is fresh and persistent with juicy, red cherry and garden herb aromas.

Ready: 2025 - 2042
2023 Colore, Bibi Graetz, Tuscany Red | Still | 13.5%

A vibrant, classy and considered wine, testament to Bibi’s mastery of balance and expression. Red plum and blackberry aromas are supplemented by hints of cracked black pepper and charcoal. There’s a long, salivating, saline finish that beckons you back for another sip.

Ready: 2025 - 2044
2022 C des Carmes Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan Dry | Red | Still | 13%

The C des Carmes uses around 30% whole bunch this year, primarily from the Merlot component. The final blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% merlot and 1% Petit Verdot from gravelly soils around Martillac. The nose is spicy and expressive with notes of wild herbs, sandalwood and violets. With a little time in the glass aromas of lavander and dark cherry fruit emerge. There is a silky, caressing feel on the palate with a great deal of elegance and charm. A delicious, vibrant and wonderfully balanced wine that finishes with accents of salted liquorice.

Ready: 2025 - 2038
2024 Savage White, Savage Wines, Western Cape Dry | White | Still | 14%

A blend of 71% Sauvignon and 29% Semillon this is made of three vineyard sites on a combination of sandstone and granite soils. Opening with a flinty note and sea spray, it is tighly wound and vibrant with flavours of white flowers, white grapefruit and a little blackcurrant lead. One of the most impressive whites made by Duncan.

Ready: 2025 - 2035
2024 Ava Chenin Blanc, Rall Wines, Swartland White | Still

Restrained, chiselled and crystalline, this is at the top of the tree this year for Rall’s whites. So detailed and with magnificent focus, it is a wine of real tension and drama while remaining zipped up for now. A wine of huge promise and potential.

Ready: 2025 - 2039
2024 Ava Syrah, Rall Wines, Swartland Red | Still

Opening with crushed pepper, warm rocks and smoked meat there is a refinement to this wine with flavours of black cherry and plum. This is a wine that does not shy away from structure with firm, sinewy tannins that ably frame the fruit. A classical feel to the wine, with more complexity revealing itself with time. A wine of real potential.

Ready: 2025 - 2040
2024 Noa Chenin Blanc, Rall Wines, Swartland White | Still

This is a wine of restraint and focus that opens with a subtle note of gunflint. It builds through the palate with notes of stone fruits, a hint of grilled tropical fruit, but a lift of ginger and acacia. Hugely complex Chenin with layers that grow in the glass.

Ready: 2025 - 2039
2024 Rall White, Rall Wines, Swartland Dry | White | Still

A little flintiness on the nose, there is a nervous energy and tension to this wine. So complete on the palate, there are flavours of apricot, white grapefruit with a freshness that balances perfectly with a feeling of breadth on the palate. Excellent.

Ready: 2025 - 2036
2024 Skaliekop Chenin Blanc, David & Nadia, Swartland White | Still

The soil here is very shallow shale soils in the Paardeberg, which gives the wine a real mineral focus. There is restraint on the nose, chiselled and tense with a core of mineral, salty energy. Driven and crystalline on the palate, there are notes of white grapefruit, white flowers and white peach. Really impressive density and drive to this wine.

Ready: 2025 - 2039
