Dinner with Torbreck Vintners, Wednesday 14th February 2024, Cabotte, London

A true expression of some of the Barossa’s oldest and finest vines

Torbreck is one of the most revered producers in Australia. Founded in 1994, the estate is named after a forest in Scotland just south of Inverness, and subsequently many of the wines pay homage to the country in their names. The mission since the beginning has been an ambitious yet simple one - to build one of the greatest wine estates in the world, and one that pays homage to the vineyards in the Barossa Valley.

It’s hard to debate their success - the Rhȏne-style blends made here have been redefining quality in the Barossa for three decades now, and continue from strength to strength. Next month we are very fortunate to have winemaker Ian Hongell in town to host a very special dinner honing in on what makes these wines, and these vines, so special. Ian has many years experience at the top of Australian winemaking, having spent almost two decades at Peter Lehmann wines before joining Torbreck in 2017.

Alongside other wines in the range we will be treated to Torbreck’s very top expression - the Laird, made in miniscule quantities and sought after as one of the world’s greatest Syrahs. And for dinner we will be taking over the Magnum Room at Cabotte, a restaurant where wine is as much in its DNA as its delicious food. We can’t wait.
