An opportunity to meet one of Bordeaux’s most dynamic and charming producers
For over two centuries, the wines made by the Barton Family have been some of the most beloved and admired in all of Bordeaux. Founded by Hugh Barton in the 1820s and still completely family-owned to this day, the famous vineyards of Chȃteaux Léoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton (and in more recent years Mauvesin Barton) continue to make exceptional claret at ever-reasonable prices.
Today the estates are overseen by Lilian Barton-Sartorius and her children Damien and Mélanie, and we are delighted that Damien will be visiting London in March to host a dinner with us, looking at the wines from all three estates. It is hard to think of someone more affable in Bordeaux than Damien, who as well as continuing the family’s legacy is also one of the most forward-thinking and sustainably-minded winemakers in the Médoc.
The Barton wines are wines of contemplation, conversation and conviviality, just like the family that make them, and so for the setting we will be relaxing back into the luxurious private dining room at The Midland Grand, with a magnificent matching dinner from renowned chef Patrick Powell. It’s a rare opportunity to hear the inside stories from one of the true pioneering families of Bordeaux.

If you fail to do so, we’ll do our very best to credit your ticket towards the purchase of future wines, although regrettably, we cannot process credits with less than 48 hours’ notice prior to the start of the event.
