An intimate dinner with one of South Africa’s most beloved winemakers
Having tasted the latest releases from Lismore in 2018, Neal Martin commented ‘is there nothing Samantha cannot do?’ Five years on, the talents of winemaker and owner Samantha O’Keefe appear even more limitless, with a crop of vintages where the quality continues to rise. And this is despite the enormous setback of a devastating fire in late 2019, which tore through vineyards, winery and the entire 2019 vintage.
Since founding Lismore in 2003, Sam has been the pioneer of an entirely new region in South Africa - Greyton, which had been known for orchards before she planted her first vines. The vineyards, planted at 300m and subject to both the summer sun and winter snows, are unique in South Africa and subsequently produce inimitable wines.
We are delighted therefore that Sam will be hosting a dinner with us at the beginning of February, offering a chance to taste the full range of her wines, including the brand-new release of the Cuvée Blanc Reserve, as well as some older vintages from the estate. Her story is a fascinating one, and her wines are utterly superb, so this is an evening we are particularly excited about. As for the venue - we will be returning once again to the private dining room at The Quality Chop House, the perfect setting for fine food and convivial conversation.
