The Garden Room Masterclasses - Swartland vs Stellenbosch, Tuesday 17th October

A chance to compare South Africa’s two most famous regions

To kick off a series of tastings in our new London tasting room, our South Africa Buyer Robbie Toothill will be hosting a masterclass for a small number of guests, comparing the wines of the Swartland with the wines of Stellenbosch.

The ‘Swartland Revolution’ as it has been named, has seen the wines of this region become some of the most sought-after in all of South Africa - with a focus on terroir and purity of fruit. Producers such as Mullineux and Adi Badenhorst helped to pioneer a new wave of quality wine from this previously underrated region, despite its historic vines.

On the other hand, the name Stellenbosch has been synonymous with South African wine for centuries. Prior to the recent developments in South African wine, it was here that the most famous estates were found, taking advantage of the superb soils and unique microclimate of the region.

Join us for a deep dive into both regions - comparing and contrasting wines from top producers on both sides, and see just how varied and complex South African terroir can be.
