An iconic South African wine, in ever-increasing demand
Porseleinberg has swiftly become one of the most sought after wines in all of South Africa. Guaranteed to sell out on release, this top expression of South African Syrah is ranked alongside the very finest wines from the Cape, astounding when you consider the first vintage was just over a decade ago.
This is all less surprising if you’re lucky enough to meet the winemaker and vineyard famer Callie Louw. With a history that included stints working in the South of France at Le Soula, Callie has become the poster child for South African Syrah, with each vintage of Porseleinberg showing a true sense of the land. As Callie self-deprecatingly puts it - ‘if the wine tastes ok, the farming has been okay.’
In September we will have the chance to hear Callie speak a touch more effusively about his wines, as we are thrilled to have him join us for a very special dinner with several vintages of Porseleinberg. Many would argue that this is South Africa’s greatest Syrah, and you’ll have a chance to decide for yourself over the course of the evening. As an extra bit of fun, we will be comparing several vintages of the Porseleinberg with some superb Syrahs from the Rhône, featuring top names such as Marc Sorrel and Chapoutier.
For such a convivial and unique evening, we will be taking over the private dining room at The George, a recently refurbished pub where the menu has been overseen by two-Michelin-starred chef James Knappett.
For any South African wine fans, this is a no-brainer. Come along for what promises to be a very exciting dinner.

If you can no longer make it, you’re welcome to find a guest to attend in your place - simply share the name of the new attendee with us. If you fail to do so, we’ll do our very best to credit your ticket towards the purchase of future wines, although regrettably, we cannot process credits with less than 48 hours’ notice prior to the start of the event.
