An exclusive dinner with one of our favourite Brunello producers
We have long loved the wines of La Gerla here at Lay & Wheeler, as they represent everything we look for in a producer - making wines to ponder, enjoy and open without hesitation. So we are delighted that next month Alberto Passeri from the estate will be in London to host a special dinner for a handful of clients, showing wines from across La Gerla’s range.
La Gerla was born in 1976 when businessman Sergio Rossi quit his day job to follow his heart into the Tuscan hills. He bought a choice parcel from Biondi-Santi, Montalcino’s most historic producer (and a name you may recognise for its wines which sometimes sell for hundreds of pounds), and dedicated the rest of his life to making wine.
Sergio sadly passed away in 2011, but the charming Alberto continues his legacy, alongside Sergio’s wife Donatella Monforte, and celebrated oenologist Vittorio Fiore.
Longstanding clients will know just how highly we rate the wines here - from their approachable and delicious Rosso and Birba expressions, to the serious Brunellos and complex Riservas. Few wines are more food-friendly, and so we are delighted to be pairing them with the exceptional cuisine of The Quality Chop House, a favourite of ours for both its superb food and convivial atmosphere.

If you can no longer make it, you’re welcome to find a guest to attend in your place - simply share the name of the new attendee with us. If you fail to do so, we’ll do our very best to credit your ticket towards the purchase of future wines, although regrettably, we cannot process credits with less than 48 hours’ notice prior to the start of the event.
