Join us for an evening of unbridled conviviality with some of our favourite South African producers
It’s fair to say that we are pretty hooked on great South African wine here at Lay & Wheeler - indeed we’ve spent the last several years building what we think is one of the most exciting South African lists in the UK.
So when we realised that more than half a dozen of our favourite producers - good friends all - were all going to be in town around the same date, we knew we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get them all in a room together.
South African hospitality being what it is, we thought that rather than organising a more formal evening, we would put on a paulée style dinner - everyone brings a bottle from their cellars they would like to share and so we all get the chance to try dozens of different wines. Our winemakers will be bringing delights from their own vineyards, and we will be cracking open some gems from the Lay & Wheeler cellars, too.
We will be taking over the acclaimed BAO restaurant in King’s Cross for the evening - the team here have captured the hearts of Londoners over the last few years with their fun and modern spin on traditional Taiwanese fare.
With wonderful company, stellar wines and moreish food this is going to be one hot ticket. Spaces will no doubt go very quickly, so we encourage you to secure your place as soon as possible.
Please note that as this is a paulée-style BYO dinner guests are asked to bring along a bottle of their choice to share.

To save you the trouble of printing out a ticket, we’ll have a guestlist at the door.
If you purchase more than one ticket, please share the name(s) of your guest(s) with [email protected] so that we know to expect them.
If you have any dietary restrictions, please share the details with [email protected] so that we can inform the restaurant.
In the event you can no longer make it, we'll do our very best to credit your ticket towards future wines. We simply ask you give us as much notice as possible.
It may, on rare occasions, be necessary to substitute any of the wines advertised for one of a similar or better quality.
