2017 Clonal Selection Pinot Noir, Richard Kershaw, Elgin

2017 Clonal Selection Pinot Noir, Richard Kershaw, Elgin

Savoury, silky and very long, Richard’s Pinot is an impressive wine. Notes of cherry and spice combine in a wine with a finish that lasts for minutes. Incredibly well made, and very precise.

Tasting notes

He may be better known for his Chardonnays and Syrahs, but Richard Kershaw is making increasingly impressive Pinot Noirs. Made from a blend of 113, 115, 667 and 777 clones, this is juicy, floral and subtly spicy, with well-handled 20% new wood, 5% whole bunches and summer berry flavours supported by savoury tannins.
