2010 Faultline Chardonnay, Kooyong Estate, Mornington Peninsula
Named – perhaps unsurprisingly – for the geological fault that runs through this vineyard, the Faultine Chardonnay is a layered and mineral wine. Bright tropical fruits and ripe citrus are to the fore on the nose, but this leads into a palate that shows far more restraint, with a taut acid structure, vibrant citrus characters and an almost chalky finish. Enticing Chardonnay; the perfect combination of old world structure and new world fruit.
