2016 is a potentially unrivalled vintage for Montalcino, and the 2016 Il Poggione shows why. It’s tightly coiled and brooding, with finely judged tannins and an incredibly focussed palate. It will need plenty of time to unfurl, but when it does it will be mega: a spectacular bottle of Brunello di Montalcino.
