2001 Rioja Gran Reserva, Marqués de Riscal
Marqués de Riscal are stalwarts of Rioja production, creating wines that are classic examples of the traditional style, using a vast majority of Grenache and plenty of American oak. The results are incredibly pleasing and this delicious Gran Reserva is testament to the style and quality here. Dense hedgerow fruit notes meld with darker liquorice and cedar notes. Tannins are evident, but velvet-textured, underpinning the core of fruit and giving a pleasing framework to this opulent and intense wine.
