2019 Château Moulin Haut-Laroque, Fronsac

2019 Château Moulin Haut-Laroque, Fronsac

There's plenty of eucalyptus and mint on the nose, here, with richness of fruit on the palate and quite a plush, silky mouthfeel. Fronsac is a warm appellation, and you feel the sun here, but it's impeccably balanced. This is very well done, and will be delicious.

Château Moulin Haut-Laroque

The wines of Fronsac are described by Jancis Robinson as ‘rustic in style’ and this is a significant part of their charm. Continued investment and improved winemaking has resulted in some serious quality wines at great value. One of the appellation’s top wines is Moulin Haut-Laroque, which embodies this admirably. The prestigious estate has been part of the Hervé family since the 1970s however vines have been planted here since at least 1890 and is still home to some of the region's oldest vines - Cabernet Franc over 70 years old and Malbec vines which are close to 80. It was one of the first Bordeaux wine estates to bottle their own wines, at a time when most of the bottling was done by négociants, and their oldest bottle in their cellar is from 1890. Thomas is gradually taking over the estate from his parents, Jean-Noël & Dominique Hervé with help from wine consultant Michel Rolland.
