2022 Tinto Joven, Guímaro, Ribeira Sacra
Winemaker and owner of this impressive family estate, Pedro Rodríguez, has brought this estate to the forefront of high quality Spanish wines and is considered a pioneer of the Ribeira Sacra region. The blend is largely Mencía with 15% Galician indigenous varieties Caiño, Sousón, Mouraton, Garnacha Tintorera, Brancellao, Negralada and Alicante Bouchet. Located on steep slate and granite terraces, the grapes are sourced from different plots and vinified separately. The 2022 is a delight of violets, wild flowers, rosemary and graphite aromas that are supported beautifully by a fresh acidity and chalky tannins.
