Aux Fourneaux finds itself on a steep slope which can, as the name suggests, be a sun-trap in the summer. These vines were planted in 1956 and the wine they produce is concentrated and intense, with dark berry flavours.
The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Fourneaux is a blend of Premier and Village Cru vines and therefore declassified as the latter. The fragrant bouquet of lifted raspberry and wild strawberry scents is attractive and pure. The palate is medium-bodied with a tart entry, quite tight but fresh. Village Cru is probably the correct level, as this does not possess the length and depth of a higher ranking.
