The 66 year old vines give plenty of depth and a firm tannic structure to this 1er Cru Volnay, and the 2012 is no exception. The nose is dominated by quite an intense perfume of dark cherries with just a hint of cocoa; this follows through on the palate with rich, dark Pinot fruit, fine-grain yet grippy tannins. This is a serious, tannic yet rich and delicious wine, and a good example of Louis’ ability to really get the most out of this Volnay terroir.
