1996 is a very celebrated vintage and this is on the more classical end of the spectrum showing lots of elegance, gravelly, savoury notes and graphite. There's still some grip but most of the tannin has resolved into a silky texture and appetising quality. As well as some developed leather and smoky notes, there's plenty of freshness remaining that carries through some fresh plum and blackberry to a lingering finish.
