A new label for this wine is set to be unveiled in May, broadcasting the intention of flamboyant-proprietor Bruno Borie, for this wine to be seen as a stand-alone, rather than the second wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou. Quietly brooding on the nose, with notes of dense, smoky fruit. On the palate, this is a serious wine: layered and ripe, with plenty of fine tannins, giving this a velvety texture. Good length, with a touch of mineral freshness on the finish.
