2013 Château Musar Rouge, Serge Hochar, Bekaa Valley

2013 Château Musar Rouge, Serge Hochar, Bekaa Valley

Château Musar is unique: something you realise from the moment you bring the glass close to your nose. Notes of victoria plum and figs, and so much exotic spice, it’s a hedonistic, opulent bouquet. The palate is structured yet fine, with grippy, grainy tannins that coat the mouth, and a fine thread of vibrant acidity. It’s a long, focussed, delicious wine, from a legendary producer.

Château Musar

The renowned Lebanese estate, Château Musar, produces some of the world’s most individual wines from vines grown in the stunning Bekaa Valley. Founded in 1930, and developed by the late Serge Hochar, the family estate continues to create outstanding wines from their base at the family’s castle to the north of Beirut. Famously harvesting throughout the civil war, the Hochars have always followed non-interventionist winemaking principles and have been certified organic for over 13 years. Using a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan from mature vines, their wines are deserving of the high regard in which they are held.
