From Constantia Uitsig, this is from a single vineyard of Semillon, that's whole bunch pressed into older oak barrels. This is pithy and complex, with a lovely lees complexity, and notes of fresh hazelnuts alongside a core of citrus fruit. Just a delicious discovery, from a charming young winemaker.

Tasting notes

Jolette Steyn made this Semillon during COVID-19 lockdown, when she had partly lost her sense of smell, but it doesn't seem to have affected the quality of the finished wine. Old wood fermented with full malolactic, it's a waxy, nuanced Constantia Semillon with notes of quince and tangerine and supporting minerality. 2023-28
