Named in honour of Franco's daughter, Lua, this is a delicate, perfumed, almost Pinot-like Grenache from the Piekenierskloof. Tiny quantities are made, and its rightly soughtafter. Notes of pomegranate and wild strawberries, and also lots of spice on the finish. Just so pretty, long, and refined.

Tasting notes

Now into its fourth vintage, Franco Lourens' brilliant Piekenierskloof Grenache continues to turn heads. A quarter of the wine was fermented with stems, adding some spice to a nose of rooibos tea and rose petal. Racy and crunchy, with the zip of its 650-metre terroir, it has understated concentration, strawberry and red cherry flavours and detailed, fine-grained tannins. 2023-28
