Lots of pepper spice here, which supports the core of dark berries and floral, violet-tinged character to the wine. This is nicely judged, and easily approachable, from a future star of the South African wine industry. Tiny production.
Made with Polkadraai Hills grapes from Danie Carinus and the neighbouring Karibib farm, this is a very promising Syrah from up-and-coming young winemaker Banele Vakele. Matured in larger, older oak, it's all about focus, precision and palate length, with plenty of grip, clove, granite and red berry flavours and savoury tannins. 2024-29
