The beautiful Meerlust estate has been owned by the Myburgh family since 1756, with Hannes, the eighth generation, now at the helm. Rubicon is their most famous wine: a Bordeaux blend that was first produced by Hannes’ father, Nico in 1980. This, the 2018, is a spectacular release from one of the Cape’s finest estates. Rich and rounded wiith ripe red plum and cedar on the nose, the wine has a lift that makes it approchable in its youth and the tannic structure to age beautifully. A fabulous final vintage at the estate for winemaker Chris Williams.
