Pieter could never draw – but post epilepsy he can, hence the name. Lovely tension and finesse, a full Semillon, waxy with orange pith and very long and saline. Aged in old oak, one third spend 18 months on lees and another part spent time in amphora.
"There's a huge opportunity with Semillon in South Africa," says Pieter Walser and I fully agree. What a wine this is, marrying grapes from Elgin and Cape Agulhas that are fermented in amphorae and old wood. Pithy, herbal and toasty, it has lanolin and honeysuckle aromas and stony, tangy aftertaste.
