2017 Anwilka, Klein Constantia, Stellenbosch

A blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Syrah, and 7% Petit Verdot from the Helderberg, the 2017 Anwilka shows real breeding, with dark fruit, ripe yet present tannins, and a fine thread of acidity. There’s plenty of complexity here, with allspice and cassis, as well as a hint of black coffee. Very refined, but unashamedly opulent, it’s a brilliant wine from a much-loved estate.
