2013 Porseleinberg Syrah, Swartland

Fast becoming South Africa’s flagship garagiste wine, the exceptional Porseleinberg is a pure syrah from 100% whole-bunch fermentation under the artisanal care of Callie Louw. Boekenhoutskloof bought the farm back in 2009 and have spared just a tiny quantity of the optimum fruit to produce this no-expense-spared example of South African brilliance. Last year described by Neal Martin as ‘one of Swartland’s finest reds’, this year’s trade tasting suggested that the 2013 may eclipse even that.
