2019 Sloan Proprietary Red, Sloan Estate, Napa Valley
The 2019 Proprietary Red is layered and complex, like the best of the 2019s from Napa. Ripe cherry, blueberry and cassis dominate the nose, with dark chocolate and exotic spices. There's more of this dusty, dry spice on the palate, along with tobacco, earthy notes, and cedar. The tannins are ripe, densely packed and grainy, and there's a mineral lift on the long, polished finish.
