Opus One needs no introduction, but in 2011 they crafted something special. The vintage is often overlooked, but now, with time in bottle, we love the wines for their elegance and purity. Winemaker Michael Silacci opted for lower fermentation temperatures this year, with less time on skins and earlier bottling, which further removes the 2011 Opus One from the bombastic, oaky style so popular in the early 2010s. Instead, there's fresh berry fruit, fine-grained Cabernet tannins and delicate dry spice. Ageing gracefully in large format, this is the kind of Napa wine we love to drink. 71% Cabernet, 11% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec.
