Bannockburn is the heart of Central Otago, where vineyards like Felton Road and Mount Difficulty were first established. Valli have a vineyard here at higher elevation, around 350m above sea level, and nestled into a hillside which provides protection from the elements, allowing for long, cool growing seasons. The wine is fresh and floral, with the silkiness so characteristic of Bannockburn. There is some ripe black fruit on the nose and a vibrant feel on the palate, with some salty, savoury notes in the background. It's forward, balanced and pure, with more earthy spice towards the finish. Jen and her team used 30% whole bunch this vintage.
