2023 was a consistently warm and dry vintage in Margaret River, providing some fantastic harvest conditions. The Kevin John is one of the earliest Chardonnays to be released each vintage – and if it's a sign of things to come, then you’d better make space in your cellar. The team at Cullen use a mixture of 74% new French oak, concrete eggs and amphoras to build complexity, and this, along with the wild ferment and full malolactic, allows the purity of the fruit and a phenomenal textural element to sing. There are plenty of biscuity, creamy notes, with sweet stone fruit, citrus, green almond, and spice . There's a seam of intense mineral-tinged acidity. Full of energy and persistence.
