2022 The Steading, Torbreck, Barossa Valley

2022 The Steading, Torbreck, Barossa Valley

Up to 20 individual ferments go together to create The Steading, Torbreck's GSM. The wine goes into large foudres for maturation. This is a classic GSM, with deep crimson to dark plum core. Intensely lifted red and blue fruits dominate the aromas of mulberry, red plum, redcurrant and red cherry. Spices like sandalwood, cinnamon bark, and star anise also add complexity. The palate is more robust than past vintages with denser plusher red fruits and a silky mouthfeel and added weight that glides across the tongue. An excellent vintage to enjoy in its youth or cellar confidently for up to 10 years.

2021 Cuvée Juveniles, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Dry | Red | Still | 14.5%

This Rhone blend now contains some Counoise to create bright acidity, and Carignan, which adds soft black fruit character. This has beautiful aromatic black fruit, and a lifted herbal complexity. This wine is all about softness and generosity, not structure. There's a velvet texture and bright, ripe fruit on the finish.

Ready: 2022 - 2030
2020 The Steading, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Red | Still | 15%

The high proportion of Grenache in this vintage, at 65%, gives a beautiful fresh red fruit character, but there are plenty of darker fruits, richness and broad tannins from the Shiraz and Mataro. Delicious now with a long juicy finish, this is a great buy.

Ready: 2024 - 2040
2019 The Factor, Torbreck, Barossa Valley Red | Still | 15%

Torbreck's classic and traditional Barossa Shiraz. Very dark fruit profile with soy, coffee, dark chocolate and star anise. This has 2 years in 50% new French oak barriques. This drought vintage in particular is textural and grippy on the palate. This has an earthy, iron-rich feel to it, almost Hermitage-esque.

Young: 2025 - 2045
