2021 Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier, Canberra District

The Shiraz Viognier is Clonakilla’s flagship wine, and in 2021 is 94% Shiraz and 6% Viognier, aged in French oak for 12 months. They didn't make 2020 due to devastating fires, so their 2021 is a welcome return. It was a cooler year, with a lot of rain. The result is a very fragrant, cool wine with spice and floral aromas. The fruit is just-ripe, giving an almost crunchy sensation with fresh acidity and a persistent finish. This is made from the best parcels of vines at the Murrumbateman estate.
