The ‘Tout Près Vineyard’ was planted in 2001 and is the highest elevation, with three different soil types. There's black volcanic soils, limestone, quartz and sandy loams. It's planted at high density, more like you see in Europe. They use 100% whole bunches for this cuvee in a large oak fermenter. It also uses 100% new oak. At the moment it is quite closed, but will become more expressive with age. There's some underlying power here, richness on the mid-palate and bright acidity.
