This Pinot comes from the Farrside Vineyard which is a Northeast-facing slope and consists of limestone topped with black volcanic soil, it's just 300 meters from their Sangreal vineyard. The soils here are darker and the vines get less sun exposure, despite the aspect, and the result is later picking. There's up to 50% whole bunch fermentation adding some grippy texture and herbal top notes. There's plenty of complex red and black berry fruits, with soft spice and a chewiness at the finish at this early stage. One for the cellar, this will be seriously impressive with some time in bottle.
