2010 Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon, Penfolds, South Australia

Described by Peter Gago, the winemaker, as showing “impressive vinous horsepower”, this is a rich and appealing Cabernet. Dark cassis notes are to the fore on the nose, with a hint of eucalypt character coming through. The palate is silky-textured, with very fine tannins providing a subtle framework for a core of crunchy black berry fruit and fruitcake spice. A bright, fresh acidity provides a sense of lift, giving this a clean and pure finish.
