"Arianna's Frappato is probably her most iconic wine, born out of a dream she had as a girl to produce a wine that resembled the Iblei mountains and Vittoria, but also herself. It is a wine that is wonderfully floral and exhibits redcurrants, sour cherries, crushed raspberries as well as hints of herbal and graphite. The tannins are powdery and fine and the palate is beautifully silky. "

Tasting notes

Showing lots of varietal character, the 2021 Il Frappato reveals dusty red stone, wild berry and a hint of sweet apricot. The wine is firm and tense, yet it also manages an absolutely weightless approach that makes it so easy and fun to drink. It embraces a contemporary style that would pair with the healthy foods we want to eat today, with lots of vegetables and white meats.

Arianna is somewhat of a celebrity in winemaking circles having been part of the Sicilian wine new wave of focusing on old vines, indigenous varieties and minimal wine intervention since she started her own winemaking project in 2004. Based in the not so fashionable Vittoria area of southern Sicily, Arianna is focused on producing high quality and accessible wines, and is mostly known for her handling of the indigenous Frappato grape.
