This Schioppettino from Marco Sara is such a delightful discovery. Peppery fruit on the nose, with wonderful aromatics of wild flowers, rose petal, fresh thyme, and so much more. The palate is vibrant and fresh, with lots of strawberry fruit and a savouriness, too. The tannins are light but present, and there's such lovely minerality on the finish. Serve this slightly chilled, or direct from the cellar. It's brilliant.

Peppery, perfumed and slightly exotic, the 2019 Schioppettino impresses with its bouquet of wild strawberries, cloves and dried roses. It’s silky and round, with juicy acidity enlivening its waxy red berries, inner violet floral and lavender tones. This tapers off with a twang of spice and purple and blue-tinged flowers, as residual acids maintain a lovely freshness. This is a zesty and fun Schioppettino.
