2016 Barolo, Pio Cesare, Piedmont

A blend of vineyards across the Barolo zone, the 2016 Barolo from Pio Cesare has a classic nose of tar and roses, and a candied orange peel element, too. The tannins are soft and rounded, and there’s impressive but not overpowering acidity. It’s a beautiful Barolo, and one that will be approachable earlier than some.
