The 2016 La Rocca from Pieropan is a silky, textured, complex white from a region not usually associated with world-class whites. From a single vineyard, the nose is seriously perfumed with notes of peach, honeydew melon, rose and honeysuckle. But it’s the palate that gives the biggest hint to its aging potential. There’s incredible intensity to the texture, and a long, saline finish that lingers for minutes. Simply brilliant: a wine that belongs in every cellar.
