It’s impossible to overstate just how good Le Potazzine’s black label 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva really is. Only the fourth Riserva ever bottled by the estate (after 2004, 2006, and 2011), it’s easily the best wine from them we’ve tasted. It’s an enticing, savoury, black-fruited Brunello that perfectly balances the vintage’s richness with an almost weightless buoyancy. The mineral, redcurrant and liquorice-tinged finish seems to go on for days. The only shame is that there’s not more of this to go around: there was only a single 30-hectolitre cask produced. Certainly one to secure if you can.
