2014 Chianti Classico Vigneto San Marcellino, Rocca di Montegrossi, Tuscany

From a single vineyard which surrounds a church of the same name, from the best grapes in the vineyard, and a blend of mainly Sangiovese and a little Pugnitello. Serious acidity, nice purity and depth, and lovely tannins. Touch of liquorice and anise and nice floral character. Opens with air, with beautiful crunchy fruit, developing texture and length. This will get better and better.

Rocca di Montegrossi

Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has winemaking in his blood. His family has played a key role in the history of Chianti Classico, a tradition he proudly upholds. Marco’s wines are authentic and a joy to taste, made from a small organic farm in Gaiole using traditional methods. Praise for the estate, locally and from critics, is notable and it’s easy to see why.
